Northern Territory Police have charged a 13-year-old male in relation to the attempted robbery of a Katherine service station in the early hours of Saturday 28 November 2020.

It is alleged that he was one of a group of youths who approached and threatened staff, demanding cigarettes and cash.

The youth was charged with:

  • Attempted robbery
  • Going armed in public
  • Making threats to kill a person.

He will appear in court at a later date.

Enquiries are continuing in relation to the other youths and their involvement in the incident.

Superintendent Craig Garland said, “It is very concerning that a 13-year-old has been involved in such serious offences. But we are pleased to say that police are working with the family and other community groups to reduce the likelihood of his reoffending.”
