Police today said a female police communications officer posted to the Regional Command & Control Centre New Territories has preliminarily tested positive for COVID-19.

The 37-year-old officer felt unwell on December 1 and sought medical treatment at a clinic. She preliminarily tested positive for COVID-19 today.

She had no travel history over the past 14 days.

She last attended work on November 30 and had not performed any duties that require her to come into contact with the public.

While awaiting further assessment and recommendations from the Department of Health, officers that might have come into close contact with the officer concerned have been arranged to work from home and undergo virus testing.

Arrangements have also been made to clean and disinfect the premises where the officer works.

Police will continue to closely liaise with the Department of Health and has reminded officers to maintain personal hygiene.
