Two temporary testing centres dedicated for staff at residential care homes for the elderly (RCHEs), residential care homes for persons with disabilities (RCHDs) and nursing homes will be set up in Wong Chuk Hang and Wan Chai.

Making the announcement today, the Social Welfare Department said setting up the temporary testing centres will make it more convenient for care home staff to undergo polymerase chain reaction-based nucleic acid tests for COVID-19.

Located at Wong Chuk Hang Recreation Ground No. 2 Soccer Pitch, the Wong Chuk Hang Temporary Testing Centre began operating today.

The Wan Chai Testing Centre, located at Hennessy Road Playground Basketball Court, will start providing services from tomorrow.

The centres open from 9am to 1.30pm and from 2.30pm to 7pm daily.

The care home staff may bring along a registration form completed by their residential care homes for on-site registration and testing at the two temporary testing centres.

No advance booking is available and the test is free of charge.

The department explained that care home staff can also receive specimen collection services in community testing centres or self-arrange testing at their own expense.

The Secretary for Food & Health, on November 30, issued a compulsory testing notice requiring staff members of RCHEs, RCHDs and nursing homes to undergo polymerase chain reaction-based nucleic acid tests for COVID-19 between December 1 and 14.
