Credit: Marcos Corrêa / PRAções aimed at making the best use of the national tourism potential gained new impetus on the federal government’s agenda. During a meeting this Wednesday (12/2), in Brasília, which was attended by President Jair Bolsonaro and Economy Minister Paulo Guedes, the Council for the Partnership and Investment Program (CPPI) qualified three more public properties of tourist interest among the projects included in the PPI portfolio, with a view to attracting investments. They are the Old Railway Station of Diamantina (MG); Ruins Aldeia dos Sentenciados, in Fernando de Noronha (PE), and Palacete Carvalho Motta, in Fortaleza (CE). They will be worked under the Revive Brasil Program, the result of an international cooperation agreement signed this year between the Ministry of Tourism and the Government of Portugal. The objective of the program, adapted to the Brazilian reality, is to promote the tourist use of spaces with historical-cultural value through investments in the implantation of structures such as hotels and restaurants, through public concession contracts. Tourism, Marcelo Álvaro Antônio, participated in the meeting and pointed out efforts to boost the sector in the country. “In this moment of economic recovery in the midst of the pandemic, we are going to convert underutilized or vacant assets for tourism use, generating employment, income and helping to conserve historical assets – which will remain in the public domain -, in addition to eliminating costs to the government. It is another commitment by President Bolsonaro to tourism, which has priority in this government ”, he praised. The next step is the contracting of economic and financial feasibility studies for the subsequent elaboration of bidding notices, which should contain the award values and concession times. The decision this Wednesday is an offshoot of the qualification of the Policy for Attracting Private Investments to Tourism in the PPI, foreseen in a decree published in the Official Gazette of the May 14 of this year.PARKS – The CPPI also qualified nine national parks among the projects included in its portfolio, with a view to attracting investments through concessions. The list includes units from Chapada dos Guimarães (MT), Serra dos Órgãos (RJ), Brasília (DF), Ubajara (CE), Serra da Bocaina (RJ), Serra da Capivara (PI), Serra da Bodoquena (MS), Jaú (AM) and Anavilhanas (AM). The national secretary of Attraction for Investments, Partnerships and Concessions of the Ministry of Tourism, Lucas Fiuza, highlights progress in partnership with the Ministry of the Environment (MMA) ) for better use of parks. “The inclusion of parks in the PPI is the result of a great effort by MMA, with whom we have an important and growing partnership, led by Minister Marcelo Álvaro. This joint work contributes not only to the proper tourist use of the parks, but also to the correct conservation of these units, an action that follows President Bolsonaro’s orientation regarding national parks ”, points out Fiuza.REVIVE – The Former Railway Station of Diamantina, which connected the city to Belo Horizonte and Vitória (ES), operated until the early 1970s, when passenger trains were disabled. The unit marks the beginning of the Green Trail of Maria Fumaça, an ecotourism route about 150 kilometers long. Already the Ruins Aldeia dos Sentenciados, built in the 18th century, is located in the Vila dos Remédios de Noronha and had the function of a prison in the past, in addition to housing soldiers in World War II. The Mansion Carvalho Motta, in turn, located in central area of Fortaleza, was built in 1907 to serve as a residence for the family of Colonel Antônio Frederico de Carvalho Motta, a military man who ruled the state of Ceará. Currently, it is used as a temporary depository for archives of the National Department of Works Against Drought (DNOCS), a body that has expressed itself in favor of the inclusion of the space in the Revive Brasil Program.PPI – PPI seeks to expand and strengthen the interaction between the State and the private initiative, through the signing of partnership contracts and other measures, such as the concession of airports, ports and highways. According to the Special Secretariat of the PPI, through the program, between 2019 and the end of this year, 78 auctions and projects will be concluded, which will generate about R $ 485 billion in investments in the coming years. Not counting the grants, of about R $ 95 billion, to the Federal Government. Edition: Lívia Nascimento
