This was facilitated by a large number of services and support measures from the Moscow Government.
The number of participants in the Moscow Innovation Cluster (MIC), subordinate to the Moscow Department of Entrepreneurship and Innovative Development, in 2020 has grown by almost 20 times. 19 thousand organizations from 73 regions of Russia have already registered on the MIC IT platform. Sergei Sobyanin announced this on his page on the social network.
Head of the Department of Entrepreneurship and Innovative Development of the City of Moscow Alexey Fursin explains: “Thanks to the large number of services and support measures from the Moscow Government, the innovation cluster actively attracts participants. Since the beginning of the year, their number has grown almost 20 times, to more than 13 thousand. In addition, regional companies have the opportunity to join MIC as partners – 5.9 thousand organizations have used this right since the beginning of the year ”.
In addition to special services, including a contract manufacturing exchange and a marketplace, MIC participants can receive subsidies and grants from the city budget. For example, a subsidy for engineering, compensation of up to 10 million rubles for the payment of interest on loans for the development of activities, compensation for the cost of purchasing or leasing equipment, as well as a grant for the implementation of a complex innovative project.
Thus, one of the cluster members performing high-quality research in the development and control of innovative and generic drugs received a subsidy from the Moscow Government. The funds allowed the company to purchase new equipment, resulting in a 25 percent increase in net profit.
Another company is developing a professional development platform for healthcare professionals. According to a representative of the enterprise, participation in the cluster helps the project to build interaction with state-owned companies – a task that they had not been able to accomplish before joining the MIC. The company also plans to conduct pilot tests with several medical institutions in Moscow.
Moscow continues to provide subsidies and grants to support small and medium-sized businesses
