On November 27, the 42nd meeting of the Council of Foreign Ministers of the Black Sea Economic Cooperation Organization (BSEC) member states was held by videoconference. The event was attended by the Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation S.V. Vershinin.

During the meeting, the main results of Romania’s chairmanship of the BSEC in the context of the coronavirus pandemic were summed up, which ensured the smooth operation of the Organization for the sustainable socio-economic development of the Black Sea region.

A wide range of practical initiatives was considered, including the creation of a single BSEC platform on coronavirus issues, efforts to develop transport, trade and tourism. The Russian-proposed Framework Document for the Development of Electronic Commerce in the Black Sea Region was agreed upon. The Russian side expressed its readiness to continue close interaction with the BSEC partners, including through the implementation of the “integration of integrations” initiative, tightening the tissue of contacts between the said Organization and the EAEU.

The BSEC member countries noted the continuing demand for this format of regional economic interaction and welcomed a new member of the Organization – North Macedonia, which joined on November 9 this year.

In accordance with the rotation schedule, the presidency of the BSEC for the period from January 1 to June 30, 2021 passed to Albania.
