70 percent of schoolchildren follow the home regime, avoiding unnecessary trips around the city and visiting shopping centers.

Distance learning made it possible to prevent an increase in the incidence of coronavirus among secondary and high school students, Sergei Sobyanin said on the air of the Russia 24 TV channel.

“Children became less ill, especially those who switched to distance learning – pupils of 6-11 grades. The number of diseases among this group of children has halved, he said. “70 percent of schoolchildren follow our recommendations and stay at home, they do not go anywhere, do not practically leave the house or go for a short walk, they study diligently in a distance mode.”

The number of foci of infection in families has decreased when, after children, their elderly relatives fell ill. In general, the proportion of older people among those infected with coronavirus infection has decreased from about 25 to 15 percent.

Sergei Sobyanin added that it is not planned to transfer schoolchildren of the first to fifth grades to distance learning: “These are little kids who need parental supervision, and it is quite difficult to leave them alone at home, almost impossible.”

But if all parents in the class agree to temporary homeschooling, then the school will consider doing so. “About 10 thousand children study on distance learning at the request of their parents. They gathered and voted: our class will work on remote control, we ask the management to organize this. And we organize the work of such classes, “- said the Mayor of Moscow.

Another 45 thousand elementary school students were transferred to distance learning after sick children were found in the classrooms.

Additional measures have been taken in the capital to combat the spread of coronavirus infection. From November 13, students of colleges and universities, including federal ones, switched to distance learning.

In public places, residents are required to use masks and gloves and maintain social distance. Theaters, cinemas, concert halls can operate provided that the halls are not more than 25 percent full. And restaurants and clubs are prohibited from receiving visitors from 23:00 to 06:00.

Earlier, Moscow-based companies transferred at least 30 percent of their employees to a remote mode of work, and people over 65 and Muscovites with chronic diseases must follow a home regime.
