The military commissariat of the Samara region sent the European freestyle wrestling champion Dmitry Kuprin to military service. Together with him, another 37 professional athletes – members of the national teams of Russia went to the Samara sports company of CSKA.

The recruits were sent from the assembly point of the city of Syzran. They passed a medical commission, testing for COVID-19, professional selection, received clothing, bank and personal electronic cards, as well as a set of personal protective equipment (masks, gloves, shoe covers).

Among the recruits are representatives of such sports as boxing, cycling, freestyle wrestling, kayaking and canoeing, judo, karate, sambo, modern pentathlon, artistic gymnastics, track and field athletics, shooting and tennis.

All athletes are representatives of the regions of the Urals, the Volga region and Siberia. The service will take place in the Samara sports company of CSKA. During the service with them for 160 hours, tactical, fire, and engineering training will be held. They will also study general military regulations, military topography, pass tests in physical and drill training, and fulfill the standards for NBC protection and security of military service. Young men combine military service with intensive training, training camps and participation in all-Russian, European and international competitions.

The sports company in the city of Samara on the basis of CSKA was revived in 2013. Since that moment, the servicemen have brought over a thousand medals to the country’s treasury. In the military units of CSKA, 25 Olympic sports are cultivated.
