Media platform #Moscowstoby invites everyone to join the video tour of the exhibition “Kostaki’s Choice”prepared Museum AZ… The exhibition is timed to the fifth anniversary of the museum and is dedicated to the famous Soviet collector Georgy Kostaki. Today, most of the works of art collected by him are in the Tretyakov Gallery.

The video tour, which consists of three parts, is conducted by art critic, editor of the publishing project of the AZ Museum Sergey Soloviev. The first one acquaints viewers with the biography of Georgy Kostaki, unique icons with which his collection began, as well as Russian folk toys of the early 20th century. The second part of the tour is dedicated to the artists of the Russian avant-garde, whose works are the basis of the collection – Wassily Kandinsky, Lyubov Popova, Alexander Drevin, Aristarkh Lentulov, Alexandra Exter. The third part of the tour presents the works of the collector’s contemporaries – nonconformists of the second half of the twentieth century Dmitry Krasnopevtsev, Vladimir Yakovlev, Francisco Infante, Anatoly Zverev, Dmitry Plavinsky, Peter Belenk, Oleg Tselkov and others. Their work was of particular interest to George Kostaki and is now in the collection of the AZ Museum.

The exhibition “Kostaki’s Choice” invites viewers to see the image of a museum of modern art that a collector dreamed of, where everyone can trace the connection between ancient Russian art and the avant-garde of the 20th century.
