This measure will allow controlling the flow of people and limiting their number in dressing rooms and rental centers.

Skating rinks will start operating in most of the capital’s parks on November 27. From December 1, the rest of the sites with artificial ice will open in various regions. About it Sergei Sobyanin told on the air of the TV channel “Russia 24”.

The Mayor of Moscow noted that the risk of COVID-19 infection in the open air is minimal, but a fairly large number of people gather at skating rinks in locker rooms and at rental points.

“We didn’t limit the number of ice rinks to avoid crowding of people. We will only make an electronic record in the parks so that it is possible to control the flow of people, to limit them to those sanitary requirements imposed by doctors. It will be 30–40 percent fewer people to pass through rental points and ride on sites, ”the Moscow Mayor said.

Sergei Sobyanin also said that there are about 1,500 yard skating rinks in the capital. They will be flooded when real winter comes in the city.

“As soon as the weather permits, we will open skiing spots,” the Moscow Mayor added.

This year, the Journey to Christmas Festival and other mass events will not be held during the New Year holidays. This decision was made in connection with the coronavirus pandemic. At the same time, the city streets and parks will be decorated with Christmas trees and other decorative elements.
