YO Bendigo is looking for 15 local, young visual artists aged 14 to 24 to participate in the YO Arts: Underground program with well-known artist Nacho Station.

City of Greater Bendigo Youth Mayor Ryan Petersen said YO Arts: Underground is a two-week skill development program running from December 5 to 20, followed by an exciting installation and public exhibition event in January 2021.

“The program is a great opportunity for young artists to build their art career skills, meet other artists and be part of a public street art exhibition,” Mr Petersen said.

“YO Bendigo is excited to partner with local street artist Nacho Station for this program and exhibition and we are now putting out the call for 15 young visual arts to take part.

“The program is a really great opportunity for our local young artists that is not to be missed.”

Those participating in the program will learn how to turn their art into a career pathway with workshops on:

  • Developing skills with aerosols and other street art techniques
  • Marketing and promoting their work
  • Collaborating and exhibition planning
  • Finding industry opportunities and applying for creative sector grants.

YO Arts: Underground is open to young people aged 14-24 who live, study, or work in Greater Bendigo and is free for participants.

No previous street art experience is required and applications close 5pm, Friday December 4, 2020.

More information is available at www.yobendigo.com.au  or by emailing [email protected]

All workshops and gatherings throughout the program will be conducted in accordance with COVID-safe guidelines.
