A exhibition on China’s efforts in achieving a moderately prosperous society through poverty alleviation made its debut in Guangzhou, capital of south China’s Guangdong province, as a supplementary activity to the Understanding China Conference 2020 held on Friday.
During the 13th Five-Year Plan period (2015-2020), more than 50 million people in China’s rural areas managed to shake off absolute poverty. The per capita annual net income of the registered impoverished population rose from 4,124 yuan (about 628 U.S. dollars) in 2016, to 9,057 yuan in 2019, with an average annual growth rate of 30%.
Soliciting photographs from all walks of life, the exhibition features the following six sections:
1.The key to a well-off society is rural areas
Achieving a comprehensive well-off society would be impossible without improvements in rural areas, especially those that are poverty-stricken. In the national journey toward modernization, the rural areas must not be left behind; in the process of chasing the Chinese dream, the dreams of the hundreds of millions of farmers must be integrated.
