Geneva (Nov. 16/20). Colombia participates in the resumed session of the 147th Executive Council of the World Health Organization (WHO).

Following its election at the 73rd World Health Assembly, as one of the six countries representing the Americas region within the framework of the Executive Council of the World Health Organization (WHO), Colombia participated in the resumed session of the 147 session of the Council, which was held in two sessions: May 22 and November 16, 2020.

In the second session, a delegation led by the Vice Minister of Public Health and Service Delivery, Dr. Luis Alexander Moscoso, and made up of the Representative of Colombia to the United Nations in Geneva, Ambassador Adriana Mendoza and other officials of the Ministry of Health participated. and the Chancellery.

This meeting was focused on the reports on the recent celebration of the 73rd World Health Assembly, and the great challenges that the virtual format with which it was developed, as well as other issues of a nature, represented for the appropriate discussion of the topics. administrative and functional of the World Health Organization: budget, reports on expert committees and study groups, among others. On the part of Colombia, the importance of addressing and implementing the recommendations of expert groups on drug dependence, residues of certain veterinary drugs, among others, was highlighted.

The Executive Board (EB) is made up of 34 members technically qualified in the field of health. The main functions of the Executive Board are to give effect to the decisions and policies of the Health Assembly, to advise it and, generally, to facilitate its work.
