Nova Scotia reports one additional case of COVID-19 at Auburn Drive High School in Cole Harbor. The new case is that of a person who had close contact with a case already reported to this school.

Auburn Drive High School and its family of schools will be closed for the day on Friday, November 20. The affected schools are:

Astral Drive Elementary
Astral Drive Junior High
Bell Park Academic Center
Caldwell Road Elementary
Colby Village Elementary
Graham Creighton Junior High
Humber Park Elementary
Joseph Giles Elementary.

Schools will not be accepting community reservations until Sunday, November 22.

Friday is a performance assessment and appreciation day for students from Kindergarten to Grade 9. Staff will work from home, with the exception of maintenance staff.

As part of their ongoing investigation, public health officials will contact those who have had close contact with the confirmed cases and advise them of the next steps. All people who are in the same classroom as someone with a confirmed case of COVID-19 must be tested and self-isolate for 14 days. Students will be helped to learn from home.

When a member of the school community tests positive for COVID-19, public health officials work with school staff to educate families about positive cases and next steps . These decisions, including opening and closing schools or closing a classroom, are made based on the level of risk to other members of the school community and the operational capacity to support classroom learning.
