First class rescuer of the search and rescue unit of the Karachay-Cherkessian search and rescue squad of the EMERCOM of Russia named after V.M. Galibin on September 21, 2018 took part in the rescue operation to provide assistance and evacuation of a group of climbers who climbed to the top of Belalakaya in the Karachay-Cherkess Republic. Having lost the route on the descent from the summit, the leader of the group stood on a snow bridge, together with which he collapsed into an ice crack to a depth of about 20 meters. As a result of the fall, he received injuries to the chest and pelvic bones. Work on the evacuation and transportation of the victim was carried out in especially difficult and dangerous conditions, at an altitude of about 3 thousand meters above sea level, at night. V. Galibin descended into the crack and provided the victim with first aid, with the help of climbing equipment, he organized his ascent to the glacier and transportation along the glacier to the place of evacuation by helicopter.

Transportation work continued until five in the morning. At seven o’clock in the morning, the victim with rescuers was evacuated from the glacier by a helicopter of the Ministry of Emergency Situations of Russia and taken to Cherkessk, where the victim was transferred to medical workers of the Karachay-Cherkess Republican Hospital. Thanks to the selfless and professional actions of Viktor Vladimirovich Galibin, the climber from the Republic of Belarus was brought to a medical facility in a stable condition in the shortest possible time.

Note that during his work in the detachment, he went from an ordinary rescuer to a 1st class rescuer, having mastered a variety of professions, specialties and skills necessary for the high-quality performance of his professional duties, took part in more than 250 emergency rescue and other urgent work. has extensive experience in carrying out rescue operations in the mountains of Karachay-Cherkessia and beyond, he personally supervised many works.

In 2014 he took part in ensuring security during the XXII Winter Olympic Games and the XI Paralympic Games in Sochi. He is actively involved in sports, has the second category in mountaineering and boxing. He is an instructor of the 2nd category in alpine skiing, an instructor of the 3rd category in mountain hiking, ski tourism and snowboarding.
