Today MPs in the House of Commons will debate International Men’s Day.

Themes for International Men’s Day 2020 that members may discuss include:

– Making a positive difference to the wellbeing and lives of men and boys
– Raising awareness and/or funds for charities supporting men and boys’ wellbeing
– Promoting a positive conversation about men, manhood and masculinity

The House of Commons Library has prepared a research briefing ahead of this debate. Find it here: https://commonslibrary.parliament.uk/research-briefings/cdp-2020-0138/

A debate is a formal discussion of a specific proposal (motion) in the House of Commons or House of Lords. Members take it in turns to speak and there are rules and conventions that are followed. Debates can be read in the Official Report (Hansard).
