Mister President! Dear Colleagues! The Ülkücü movement and its supporters represent an ideology whose cornerstones are based on racism, fascism, anti-Semitism and anti-liberalism; this has been more than clear in the debate so far. I am therefore pleased that such a broad alliance of the democratic parties represented here in this House is behind this proposal, and I want to make it clear once again what guides us.
We will resolutely stand up to all forms of anti-Semitism. We do not allow people to be discriminated against because of their origin, ethnicity or similar characteristics. We will take decisive action against any attempt to intimidate dissidents. Nationalist and racist ideologies have no place with us. And I would add: I also consider the pursuit of the great man, as expressed in the movement’s desire for the establishment of great empires, to be stupid. Big Turkish or something big – big bullshit.
(Applause from the CDU / CSU and members of the SPD)
In this context I also say: We will not watch that conflicts from Turkey continue to be fought in Germany. Of course, we are aware that the gray wolves and their agitation represent a massive obstacle to a functioning integration, especially in the Turkish-born part of our population, and thus blatantly jeopardize social peace in our society. When such nationalist, racist idiots cheer the Turkish President, then for Mr Erdogan the order of the day should be demarcation and participation in our efforts, especially with regard to a ban.
If it is true that close employees of the Turkish President turn out to be supporters of these ultra-nationalists – I heard that the Turkish Foreign Minister showed the hand signal of the Gray Wolves at his appearance in front of the Turkish Consulate General in Hamburg in March – then I can go in the direction of Just tell Mr Erdogan: The order of the day is an urgent course correction if he does not want to risk further alienation from Europe and international isolation.
(Beatrix von Storch [AfD]: His knees are shaking!)
We therefore emphatically support the Federal Minister of the Interior and our security authorities in their approach of countering the umbrella organizations and other organizations that can be attributed to the Ülkücü movement with all determination and the means available to our constitutional state.
In conclusion, I want to say: In this context, thoroughness is now the most important thing; because there are two more important ones in addition to the commandments mentioned. First. The ban must also last before the courts; that is, it must be clean and thoroughly prepared. This is what is happening now. Secondly. The ban must also affect the ramifications of the movement and its sub and camouflage structures. For this, too, thoroughness is necessary. It is now the order of the day. Then we will base the right decisions on it.
(Applause from the CDU / CSU)
