The Canadian Carbon Neutral Accountability Act delivers on the federal government’s commitment to legislate Canada’s goal of zero net greenhouse gas emissions by 2050. The Act will establish a legally binding process to define National five-year emission reduction targets for 2030, 2035, 2040 and 2045, as well as to develop a credible and science-based emission reduction plan to meet each target. The Act was introduced in the House of Commons by the Minister of Environment and Climate Change, the Honorable Jonathan Wilkinson, on November 19, 2020.
