HomeMedia“Covid-19: measures continued until December 6

19.11.2020 Even if a decrease in contamination is observed, the health and hospital situation remains very tense in our canton, which is currently one of the most affected regions. The restriction measures currently in force are therefore extended until December 6. The Council of State calls on Neuchâtel residents to strictly respect these rules. This is to relieve the health system and contribute to an evolution that will allow the reopening of restaurants as well as the holding of religious ceremonies from December 7. The State Council has decided to keep the restrictive measures currently in force to contain the pandemic unchanged until midnight December 6. The application of these measures enables the contaminations curve to be bent. A total of 868 people have tested positive for Covid-19 in the past seven days, compared to 1,571 the previous week. The level of contamination remains very high with a positivity rate of 54% of the tests carried out. Despite this decline, the situation on the pandemic front is still far from the safety zone, while the hospital situation in Neuchâtel remains very tense. On Wednesday 18 November, 135 people were taken care of within the Neuchâtel Hospital Network (RHNe). Among them, 19 patients treated in intensive care. In addition, 17 patients had to be transferred to another hospital outside the canton. Reopening of restaurants scheduled for December 7 For the Government, maintaining these measures for several more weeks is essential in order to continue to limit the spread of the virus within the Neuchâtel population. From December 7, and provided that the favorable development of the situation continues until then, the Council of State intends, however, to allow the reopening of restaurants, in particular according to the conditions decreed by the Confederation and with the exception of bars and nightclubs. He will specify the details on November 30. In addition, also on December 7, the State Council decided to re-authorize religious ceremonies in accordance with the federal regulations in force. Places of worship will thus be able to accommodate up to 50 people with an appropriate protection plan. Support for affected companies In addition to the support measures decided yesterday by the Federal Council and aid already announced at cantonal level, the Council of State is examining the possibility of further strengthening the support provided to companies directly affected by activity restrictions. The Government’s objective is to complete the system in place in order to preserve as much as possible businesses that experience prolonged closures due to health measures taken at the cantonal level. Maintain its effort for new perspectives Conscious of the considerable efforts required of all Neuchâtel residents, the Government thanks them for having, for the most part, respected the measures in force. He urges them to continue their efforts to continue to slow the spread of the coronavirus. He also calls on them not to go to another canton to circumvent the Neuchâtel measures, at the risk of worsening the situation, nullifying the efforts made so far and extending the restrictions dictated by the health situation. It is not only a question of allowing the Neuchâtel health system to avoid the exhaustion of its resources and to return to a less strained functioning, but also to avoid repeated or even more marked and longer damage to economic activities and social. For the holiday season, the Council of State will study the advisability of occasional relaxations in the areas of social life as well as cultural and sporting life. In view of the situation that still prevails in the canton, no further relaxation is envisaged for the time being before this period. The possibility of further relaxations will depend on the favorable evolution, over time, of the health situation and the return to acceptable levels of circulation of the virus. The cantonal authorities therefore count on the responsibility of each and everyone to continue to bend the pandemic curve. BodyRight EDITOR’S NOTE: This article is a translation.
