The meeting approved a “roadmap” for the implementation of 5G.
The meeting of the presidium of the government commission was attended by the Minister of Digital Development, Communications and Mass Media Maksut Shadayev, Deputy Minister of Economic Development Vladislav Fedulov, as well as heads of other federal executive bodies, representatives of the state corporation Rostec and PJSC Rostelecom.
The work on the formation of the roadmap was carried out within the framework of the agreement of intent concluded between the Government of Russia, PJSC Rostelecom and the state corporation Rostec in order to develop a fifth generation mobile communication network. Before being submitted to the presidium of the government commission, the document was approved by the Ministry of Digital Development, the Ministry of Economic Development, the Ministry of Industry and Trade, as well as other specialized departments and business structures involved in the implementation process. The participants expressed a number of additional proposals, which were adopted at the meeting of the presidium and taken into account in the “road map”.
The main goal is to create domestic technological solutions and infrastructure that ensure the development of 5G communication networks, and subsequently contribute to the expansion of markets for services and services provided using this technology.
“The transition to 5G technologies is one of the priorities for the digitalization of the Russian economy, since it provides a basis for quality growth in many areas. The “road map” that we approved at the meeting of the presidium includes the principle of import substitution. We believe that this will provide a load for the Russian industry, as well as contribute to its technological growth. Achieving the quality and competitiveness of domestic solutions on a par with international analogues is an ambitious task, but feasible, and representatives of the state corporation assured us of this today, ”said Deputy Prime Minister Dmitry Chernyshenko. At the same time, he said that the Ministry of Digital Industry will control the implementation of the “road map” and the observance of all agreements.
The Vice Prime Minister noted that the bulk of the measures for the introduction of new equipment and the deployment of 5G networks should be implemented in 2021-2024.
Earlier it was reported that the production of domestic 5G equipment will begin no later than 2023.
