From October to November 2020, about 763 thousand bulbous plants were planted on the territory of VDNKh. With the onset of warmth, guests of the exhibition will be able to enjoy the fragrance of various compositions of daffodils, tulips, crocuses, hyacinths and other flowers.

On the territory of VDNKh, preparations for the spring flower season of 2021 have been completed. With the onset of the warm season, guests of the exhibition will be able to see the blossoming large-flowered crocuses, scillas, hyacinths, muscari, onions, daffodils and, of course, tulips.

All these plants belong to bulbous and corms, they are traditionally planted before the first snow. Landscaping specialists prepared the soil before the fall planting. To improve its quality and structure, about 520 cubic meters of organic fertilizers were used.

More than 70 percent (more than half a million plants) of the planted flowers are tulips. 50 author’s and breeding varieties are presented at VDNKh. They can be seen on the Central Alley, near the arch of the main entrance, the Worker and Kolkhoz Woman Pavilion, the Moskvarium, the House of Culture, the Wedding Palace, in the Timiryazevsky and Ryazan Squares and other parts of the exhibition.

Also in the coming spring tulips will bloom in the composition “Big picture of fields”. They also planted crocuses, decorative types of onions, muscari (mouse hyacinth, or viper onions), daffodils and Siberian forest.

These flowers include, among other things, a reproduction of the painting by Wassily Kandinsky entitled “Small Worlds I”. A variety of plants bloom from early spring to late autumn, thus changing the colors and shades of the composition. These are mainly variations of blue, purple, yellow and red.

In total, over a million flowers can be observed at the country’s main exhibition in the spring months. Among them are perennials, wild plants and bulbous crops. More than three hundred types of flowers and more than a hundred varieties of trees grow on the territory of VDNKh.

VDNKh is a unique public space with more than 80 years of history. It brings together 49 cultural heritage sites, including historic pavilions and fountains. The total area of the exhibition is over 325 hectares.
