Press Release

Albuquerque, N.M. – Today, the office of Congresswoman Deb Haaland (NM-01) partnered with New Mexico Thrives, Pivotal New Mexico, and the New Mexico Delegation Office to host their second annual Grants Funding Workshop, virtually, to increase access to federal resources to help non-profits and other organizations continue their work for the community. The workshop is particularly timely, given the current surge of COVID-19 and the increased need for services that non-profits provide.

“With the challenges our communities face in this pandemic non-profits have stepped in to fill gaps in services and have always helped build strong and thriving communities. I’m proud to organize this grants workshop to assist our non-profits for the second year in a row and I want to thank New Mexico Thrives, Pivotal New Mexico, and the New Mexico Delegation Office for their expertise in helping my office organize this event, and for their dedicated work to help New Mexicans. I hope all organizations attending our workshop came away with the information they need to continue serving our communities,“ says Congresswoman Haaland.

Non-profit organizations submitted their questions ahead of time and during the live event, federal advisers and experts provided answers to those questions. There were also virtual presentations to help with the federal grants process, funding opportunities, and best practices for applying for grants. Local organizations were also on hand to discuss available resources and non-federal funding opportunities.

“New Mexico Thrives is grateful to Congresswoman Haaland for hosting this webinar which provided timely information needed to promote nonprofit success in support of our New Mexico communities,” said Tsiporah Nephesh, Executive Director of New Mexico Thrives

“This is a crucial moment for non-profits in our state,” said Terry Brunner, CEO of Pivotal New Mexico. “During COVID we need non-profits more than ever and we are there to help give them a lifeline to the funding that’s out there is so crucial to their survival.”
