In Novorossiysk, the coastal preparatory phase of the joint exercise of the Naval Forces (Navy) of the Arab Republic of Egypt and the Russian Navy (Navy) “Friendship Bridge – 2020” has begun.
After the training on communications between the participating ships, the officers responsible for conducting the episodes of the naval phase from the Russian and Egyptian sides took part in the briefings on the conduct of the exercises at sea.
The key event of the coastal phase of the Russian-Egyptian naval exercise will be the pre-voyage conference on November 19. It will be attended by representatives of the joint command headquarters of the exercise, commanders and officers of the ships.
Also, as part of the planned cultural events for Egyptian and Russian sailors, excursions to the sights of the hero city of Novorossiysk were organized, taking into account the anti-epidemic requirements in force in the region.
The Russian-Egyptian doctrine “Bridge of Friendship – 2020” is being held for the first time in the Black Sea. During the maneuvers of the ships of the Black Sea Fleet of the Russian Navy and the Egyptian Navy, it is planned to work out all types of protection and defense of ships with the execution of firing at surface and air targets. Private exercises will be held on organizing resupply at sea by traverse, practicing screening operations against suspicious ships, as well as helping a ship in distress to find and rescue a drowning man.
The detachment of ships of the Egyptian Navy includes the frigate “Alexandria”, the corvette “El-Fateh” and the missile boat “M. Fahmi”.
From the Russian side, the crews of the Admiral Makarov frigate, the Orekhovo-Zuevo small rocket ship, the Dmitry Rogachev patrol ship and the Professor Nikolai Muru rescue tug are involved in the exercise.
The exercise “Bridge of Friendship – 2020” will last until November 24.
