Representatives of the military history society of the Far Eastern Higher Combined Arms Command School (DVOKU), stationed in Blagoveshchensk, created medieval artillery and siege weapons.

According to the preserved archival drawings and images, enthusiasts of the military-historical society DVOKU, using the educational material base of the school, have already reproduced several types of siege and throwing weapons of the ancient and Middle Ages in the form of models. This summer, the construction of a large-scale model of the progenitor of modern rocket artillery systems, the ancient heavy propelling weapon Trebuchet, presented for review to guests and participants of the Suvorov Onslaught-2020 international competition, was completed. Earlier, a life-size model of the medieval artillery piece “Unicorn” was built, the creation of which took the members of the military-historical society DVOKU more than six months.

To create exhibits, members of the Military Historical Society try to use original materials. The wooden parts of the models are made of hard wood – oak or larch, which gives the products a better look and provides a much longer service life compared to other types of wood. Also, in the manufacture of models of tools, casting and forging of metals are actively used.

All recreated artillery and throwing weapons are the ancestors of modern barrel and rocket artillery systems in service with the armies of various countries of the world.

The work of the military-historical society DVOKU attracts both school cadets and pre-conscription youth into its ranks, thereby raising the prestige of both training in military higher educational institutions and serving in the ranks of the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation.

At present, the military-historical society DVOKU has more than 20 servicemen and 30 students of secondary and specialized secondary educational institutions of the city of Blagoveshchensk.
