The Pacific Fleet specialists served more than 1,000 navigation facilities on the coast of the Bering, Okhotsk and Japan seas
Specialists of the hydrographic service of the Pacific Fleet have completed the maintenance of aids to navigation equipment in the mainland and island zones of the Bering Sea, the Sea of Japan and the Sea of Okhotsk.
In the course of work on preparing the equipment for the winter period of operation, the light-optical devices, the focusing of the lamps, the characteristics of their lights were checked, the failed sources and power supply of the burned out lamps were replaced, as well as the repair of floating and coastal signs and lights, automated beacons in the fleet’s area of responsibility.
Only the specialists of the 52nd region of the Pacific Fleet’s hydrographic service, which is assigned the navigation equipment of the Avachinsky Bay, the Eastern and Western coasts of Kamchatka, the Second Kuril Strait, served about 130 objects.
In total, as part of the seasonal service, more than 1000 different aids to navigation equipment were examined, including more than 150 lighthouses. To accomplish this task, about 20 special ships and boats of the hydrographic service of the Pacific Fleet were involved.
The northernmost point of service for navigation equipment was the Russian Cat lighthouse in Chukotka, the southernmost point was the Gamow lighthouse on the Gamow Peninsula in the Sea of Japan.
