Dear Madam President! You have a good memory. – Dear Colleagues! Today one thing becomes clear again: One obviously wants to pursue the old AfD credo, which is: “The worse Germany is doing, the better it is for the AfD”, as the former AfD press spokesman Christian Lüth recently revealed .

In the meantime we are used to a lot from the AfD. But the fact that you yourself are so shamelessly abusing the greatest crisis in our country since the Second World War for your own political agenda shows that you are in particularly bad style.

(Applause from the CDU / CSU as well as from MPs of the SPD and the BÜNDNISSES 90 / DIE GRÜNEN)

Because those who act as self-righteously as the AfD towards their own people cannot be an alternative for Germany.

With the 2020 supplementary budget, we as C-parties have shown that we are putting forward constructive proposals for overcoming the crisis. It is important to us that Germany survives this difficult phase worldwide. That should also be the primary goal of every member of the German Bundestag.

(Applause from the CDU / CSU and delegate Dennis Rohde [SPD])

In this way we have not only been able to support our economy and the many people affected by unemployment in the current emergency. Yes, with the hydrogen strategy, increased digitalization and the promotion of sustainable mobility, we have set the course for the future of our country; Because one thing is clear: a crisis of this magnitude cannot be countered with tax increases, but only with a new dynamic in research, development and business.

(Applause from the CDU / CSU)

With the supplementary budget, we have created the conditions to come out of the crisis stronger than before. We want to act both cautiously and with foresight. That is why we have received broad support – I would like to emphasize this again – for this budget, and I would like to thank all my colleagues again for this afterwards.

(Applause from the CDU / CSU and members of the SPD)

The AfD proposal does not seem to me to have been completely thought out either; because it has immense gaps. What is to be expected for the AfD is the classic one-topic party – otherwise we would have missed that – that even when it comes to an application for economic aid in a pandemic, it naturally also picks up the issue of asylum. Another example of how populist this motion is is the criticism that the supplementary budget contains expenses that would not be related to an extraordinary emergency. But you do not mention a single word which expenses you mean by that.

(Contradiction at the AfD)

Of course, this supplementary budget deliberately contains future investments such as the hydrogen strategy. A party like the AfD, which would rather look backwards than look into the future, may not like that. But this is not the yardstick of our governing coalition, which is doing everything it can to make our economy more competitive and fitter for the future.

(Applause from the CDU / CSU and delegate Dennis Rohde [SPD])

The AfD writes in its application – I quote – that there are no mass diseases – unbelievable!

(Shouting from the delegate Uwe Witt [AfD])

This shows once again that simply denying a pandemic does not create a solution. No, on the contrary: It is almost irresponsible to all families in our country who have either already lost a loved one or in whom someone is sick and still suffers from the long-term effects today.

You also write – that’s awesome -: Of the 1,500 Tönnies employees who tested positive, not one seems – listen and be amazed – to have died. In God’s name: how inhuman is that?

(Applause from MP Ekin Deligöz [ALLIANCE 90 / THE GREENS])

With this you prove once again that you definitely cannot take responsibility for our country.

(Applause from the CDU / CSU, the SPD and the BÜNDNIS 90 / DIE GRÜNEN)

Ladies and gentlemen, when we decided on the supplementary budget in the summer, one thing was decisive for us, especially for me as a younger member of parliament: that we combine taking out loans with the promise that we will act immediately as soon as the economy picks up again to repay the loans. – That promise still holds true. It is an act of intergenerational justice.

(Applause from the CDU / CSU)

I am absolutely convinced that, in spite of all our own fallibility, we have decided the best possible for our country with the measures we have adopted, and we will not let up in our efforts to sharpen and improve again and again. We as the CDU / CSU are therefore going constructively into the future of our country. The AfD behaves destructively. That is the blatant difference and that is why we will reject the motion.

Many thanks.

(Applause from the CDU / CSU and from Ulrike Bahr [SPD])
