It is possible to control the spread of coronavirus with the help of minimum restrictions – transferring students to distance learning, banning entertainment facilities at night and a number of other measures.

Moscow’s healthcare system is coping with the increased workload, said Sergei Sobyanin on the air of the TV channel “Russia 24”. The detection rate of COVID-19 cases, he said, has already exceeded six thousand people per day, and the number of hospitalizations – 1.5 thousand.

“The main thing is to balance the number of people who are hospitalized and discharged. If the number of people who are discharged is greater than the number of people admitted to hospitals, then the workload of all hospitals, of the entire bed fund, gradually decreases. If, on the contrary, more patients are admitted than are being discharged, it means that the load increases, ”Sergei Sobyanin said.

Every week, the Moscow Mayor explained, an additional 300-500 hospital beds are used. For comparison: the medical complex in Kommunarka has a total of 600 beds (excluding reserve beds). Thus, the health care system is under serious pressure.

“Therefore, we introduce additional restrictions in advance, and minimal ones. Minimum from the point of view of the city’s economy, ”said Sergei Sobyanin.

So, additional measures will be introduced in Moscow from 13 November… Universities and colleges will switch to distance learning mode. Restaurants and clubs will not be allowed to receive visitors from 23:00 to 06:00. The holding of cultural, exhibition, educational, leisure, entertainment and entertainment events with the participation of spectators will be temporarily suspended. These restrictions will last until January 15, 2021.

“Restrictions on the New Year are, of course, unpleasant, but nevertheless, first of all, we must take care of the life and health of people. When dozens of Muscovites die every day, it’s hard to make a decision about any major cultural events. It’s not easy for me to make a decision about restrictions, but the situation is what it is, and it requires certain decisions, even unpleasant ones. But we accept them not for some abstract purpose, but in order to preserve the life and health of hundreds, and maybe thousands of people, ”said Sergei Sobyanin.

The introduction of new restrictions in the capital, he said, will depend on the further development of the situation with COVID-19.
