Russian Aerospace Forces helicopters will be involved in the peacekeeping operation to resolve the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict.

Eight Mi-8 and Mi-24 helicopters of the Russian Aerospace Forces army aviation, Mi-8 and Mi-24, were delivered to the airfield in Yerevan by the An-124 “Ruslan” military transport aircraft.

The helicopters will be involved in the peacekeeping operation to carry out aerial monitoring of the ceasefire and military operations control areas in the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict zone, as well as to deliver the material and technical equipment and personnel of the peacekeeping contingent to hard-to-reach areas.

To control the ceasefire and hostilities, a peacekeeping contingent of the Russian Federation is deployed in the zone of the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict in the amount of 1,960 servicemen, 90 armored personnel carriers, 380 units of automobile and special equipment.

The core of the Russian contingent will be units of the 15th separate motorized rifle brigade (peacekeeping) of the Central Military District.

In order to control compliance with the agreements by the parties to the conflict, it is planned to set up Russian observation posts along the contact line in Nagorno-Karabakh and along the Lachin corridor.

To control the peacekeeping operation in the area of ​​Stepanakert, the command of the Russian peacekeeping forces is being deployed.
