Since 2016, more than a thousand socially significant projects have won grants from the Mayor of Moscow for non-profit organizations (NPO). In 2020, 183 non-profit organizations became winners of the Moscow Mayor’s grant competition, and 125 of them received city support for the first time. The number of applications exceeded one thousand, and the total amount of funding reached 400 million rubles.
According to Natalia Sergunina, more than 30,000 non-governmental non-profit organizations are registered in Moscow today, including 6,000 socially oriented ones. Over the past seven years, the total number of such NPOs has increased by more than 80 percent.
A network of 11 specialized coworking centers has been created for non-profit organizations in the city. They are located in different districts of Moscow and provide free services for NGOs. Each has comfortable rooms with Wi-Fi and the necessary equipment. Visitors can use meeting rooms and separate workstations, as well as host events. Employees of coworking centers help organize photo and video filming, advise on various issues. Since the beginning of this year alone, the workplaces have been used three thousand times, NGOs have applied for printing printing products 1.2 thousand times, for consultations – 2.5 thousand times.
