Those with coronavirus can become social volunteers and donors. Plasma with antibodies to COVID-19 is used in hospitals in the capital to treat patients with moderate to severe disease. Plasma transfusion reduces the likelihood of deterioration and transfer to mechanical ventilation by almost half, and the survival rate increases by 19 percent.

In October, the plasma passed a record number of residents of the capital– 1.5 thousand people. Previously, about 650 people underwent the procedure per month. Almost five thousand people have become donors of plasma with antibodies to COVID-19 in Moscow.

People who have had coronavirus, aged 18 to 55 and weighing more than 50 kilograms, can become a donor. The main requirement for a donor is that after the first symptoms of coronavirus infection appear, five weeks must pass. Contraindications – chronic diseases, HIV, syphilis, viral hepatitis.
