SAUGERTIES, NY — This morning, U.S. Representative Antonio Delgado (NY-19) joined members of the Saugerties Lamouree-Hackett American Legion Post 72 for their annual Veterans Day ceremony. At the event, the Congressman delivered remarks and presented an American flag flown over the U.S. Capitol in recognition of the Legion Post’s Centennial Celebration last year, which honored the 100th anniversary of the American Legion.
“I was honored to join members of the Saugerties American Legion today to pay tribute to veterans’ service and sacrifice on behalf of our nation’s values,” said Rep. Antonio Delgado. “As Congressman, I will continue to fight to ensure our veterans have the health care they need, the social programs to help cope with the physical and mental strain of their service, and opportunities to find employment or start their own businesses. But also important is that our nation do right by their service – remember why they served in the first place and abide by the values they put their lives on the line to protect and defend. On Veterans Day, as we honor all of our veterans, let us ask ourselves, how can we be better – and then, let’s be better. We owe that to our veterans, ourselves, and our country. May God bless our veterans and may God bless America.”
