Test and trace is absolutely key to reducing the spread of this deadly virus and providing a route out of endless lockdowns. It cannot do that if it isn’t working or the data isn’t robust Alison Johnstone

The Scottish Government must reveal the impact of errors in the track and trace system which saw around half of cases fail to be interviewed within 24 hours of being notified.

Reports show Pubic Health Scotland reporting contained errors which suggested contact tracing was happening better than it actually was. [1]

In some examples, actual rates were around five times worse than reported.

Commenting, Scottish Greens health spokesperson Alison Johnstone said: “Test and trace is absolutely key to reducing the spread of this deadly virus and providing a route out of endless lockdowns. It cannot do that if it isn’t working or the data isn’t robust.

“The Scottish Government needs to explain to parliament exactly what has happened here and what it is going to do to pursue a more robust testing and contact tracing regime.”
