Specialists of the consolidated medical unit of the Russian Ministry of Defense, together with the medical staff of the hospitals, organized the work of a single center for respiratory support for patients with COVID-19 who are being treated in the redesigned hospitals of the Kurgan region.

The main task of the respiratory center is to provide assistance to the most severe categories of patients with COVID-19 with the development of acute respiratory failure. The creation of the center made it possible to concentrate in one place human resources and the necessary equipment for invasive and non-invasive respiratory support: high-flow oxygenation and artificial ventilation devices. In addition, the measures taken allowed military specialists to improve the quality of patient follow-up, the effectiveness of drug therapy and increase the number of favorable outcomes of intensive care.

The consolidated medical detachment of the Ministry of Defense specialists consists of military personnel with experience in diagnosing and treating patients with coronavirus infection. The detachment includes military anesthesiologists-resuscitators, pulmonologists, therapists, infectious disease specialists, cardiologists and epidemiologists.

Earlier, at the request of the head of the Ministry of Health of the Russian Federation Mikhail Murashko, the Minister of Defense of the Russian Federation, General of the Army Sergei Shoigu, was instructed to provide assistance to the Kurgan region in the fight against coronavirus infection.
