Five teams will represent Russia in various disciplines at the Cybathlon 2020 world championship among athletes using cybernetic devices: bionic arm prostheses, power leg prostheses, exoskeletons, neurointerfaces and others. Unlike the Paralympic Games, these competitions not only evaluate the achievements of the cybathletes, but also modern technologies – advanced means of rehabilitation.
The competition will take place on November 13 and 14 and will bring together about 60 teams from 21 countries. In a pandemic, cybathletes will perform at home venues equipped in accordance with the regulations. In Russia, the championship is held with the support of the Ministry of Industry and Trade and the Moscow Government on the territory of the Center for Sports Innovative Technologies and the Training of National Teams of Moskomsport.
The “Cybathletics” union is engaged in popularization of the movement of cybathletes in our country. The activities of the organization were noted by Vladimir Putin. He instructed to support the participation of the national team in Cybathlon 2020.
“The Cybathlon championship evaluates both the performance of the participants and the assistive technologies they use. In Moscow, more than 50 companies are developing and producing such remedies. Projects of some of them will be used by members of the Russian team. We are happy to support our cybathletes. Guys, we wish you good luck! “
Natalia Sergunina, Deputy Mayor of Moscow.
Rinat Khusainov with a power prosthetic leg will take part in the Leg discipline, and Sergei Bachu and Elina Zhukova with bionic arm prostheses will take part in the Arm discipline. It will be possible to follow the performances of the Russian team at official website championship.
Participants of the Moscow Innovation Cluster will provide their developments for athletes.

For example, for the residents of technoparks, compensation was introduced for the cost of interest on loans, the purchase or leasing of equipment, and for the participants of the Moscow innovation cluster – subsidies for engineering “, – said the head of the capital
Department of Entrepreneurship and Innovative Development Alexey Fursin.
