As part of the work of the psychocorrectional studio “Rampa” and in order to improve the organization of social and psychological work with convicted women serving sentences in the economic service unit of the SIZO-1 of the Federal Penitentiary Service of Russia in the Yaroslavl Region, the participants of the event were introduced to the technique of body art.

Body art is a form of avant-garde art. This direction first appeared in 1960. The main object of body art is the human body. The content of the work is revealed through the application of various signs and drawings to the bodies, as well as with the help of poses, facial expressions and gestures.

Today this technique is used not only in art, but also in psychocorrectional work. During the training, drawings are created on the human body – thus the participants are freed from complexes, gain self-confidence, and relieve emotional fatigue.

After drawing a picture on the body, the client, together with a psychologist, analyzes his inner feelings, after which this is compared with the drawings that the group members drew on the body of the training participant. In this case, both the image and the colors with which they were painted are important.

“In the course of the lesson, one can understand what kind of information is encoded in the human body, and what events can be brought to life thanks to such information,” said Elena Chebalova, head of the psychological laboratory of SIZO-1. – The palette of colors affects the thoughts, feelings, behavior and well-being of a person, therefore, having this knowledge, you can help him cope with an exciting situation and correct his behavior.
