Plasma donors can be people who have had COVID-19. To do this, you need to call the hotline.

In October, about 1.5 thousand Muscovites became plasma donors – twice as many as in September. This is a record number over the past six months, said Anastasia Rakova, Deputy Mayor of Moscow for Social Development.

“By the decision of the clinical committee, plasma with antibodies to COVID-19 has been used to treat sick patients since April this year. If earlier about 650 people a month became donors, then in October a record number of people donated plasma – about 1.5 thousand people. This is twice the September figure, when 699 Muscovites donated plasma. In total, almost five thousand people have already become donors of antikovid plasma in Moscow, and about 12 percent have donated plasma several times. I would like to thank everyone who shared this valuable ingredient. You are helping doctors save lives, ”said the vice mayor.

Plasma treatment is used in hospitals for patients with moderate to severe disease. The method is one of the components of complex therapy and is prescribed by the attending physician. Plasma transfusion reduces the likelihood of deterioration and transfer of the patient to mechanical ventilation by almost half, and the survival rate increases by 19 percent.

Among those who became donors are 39 social workers who donated plasma with antibodies to coronavirus as part of the Hope Donors initiative.

People who have had coronavirus from 18 to 55 years old weighing more than 50 kilograms can become a donor. To do this, you need to call the hotline: +7 (495) 870-45-16. It is open daily from 09:00 to 19:00.

The main requirement for a donor is that after the first symptoms of coronavirus infection appear, five weeks must pass. Contraindications – chronic diseases, HIV, syphilis, viral hepatitis.

For the donation of plasma with antibodies, a reward is established – five thousand rubles. Donors also receive compensation for food in the amount of 1212 rubles.
