FLINT—Congressman Dan Kildee (MI-05), Chief Deputy Whip of the House Democratic Caucus, issued the following statement today as the U.S. Supreme Court hears oral arguments in the Trump administration’s lawsuit to eliminate the Affordable Care Act (ACA):
“Republicans are continuing their ten-year crusade to take away health care from millions of Americans. While their legislative efforts have failed, President Trump and Republicans are now turning to the courts, filing a lawsuit to eliminate health coverage for those with pre-existing conditions. Taking away health care from Americans during a global pandemic is cruel and wrong. Republicans have no health care plan—their only goal is to take away your current coverage.
“As Republicans seek to sabotage our nation’s health care system, I will continue to work in Congress to expand and improve the Affordable Care Act—not eliminate it. House Democrats have passed bipartisan bills to lower health care premiums and the cost of prescription drugs. The American people deserve a U.S. Senate that will stop blocking progress on these important bills.”
