Press Release

Somerset, PA – Congressman John Joyce, M.D. (PA-13) today announced that the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation has awarded $6 million to the ongoing Route 219 project. This funding will be used to create planning and engineering documents, the first step in the effort to complete the final 5.5 miles of Rte. 219.

“The completion of Route 219 will advance economic opportunities in our region and make our roads safer. PennDOT’s newest $6 million investment in this project is encouraging progress and a key benchmark in the process. Completing Route 219 is truly a team effort, and I will continue working with federal, state, and local officials to get the job done.”

Completing the remaining portion of Rte. 219 is a primary goal for Congressman Joyce. He continues to promote collaboration across the federal, state, and local levels to complete this project. Last year, he sent a letter to Secretary of Transportation Elaine Chao urging federal support for Rte. 219, which garnered the support of a number of leaders.
