Since July 1, 2020, the amount of rent for housing subject to the 1948 law can be increased by a maximum of 0.92%. This is specified in a decree published in the Official Journal of November 4, 2020.

The rent increase occurs every year and concerns residential premises of categories:

II A, II B, II C (fairly good quality construction which generally has a maximum of 4 main rooms, 1 private toilet and 1 bathroom);
III A and III B (construction with little comfort).

On the other hand, it is forbidden to increase the rents of accommodation classified in category IV (construction in poor condition or building without any equipment).

Reminder: Housing subject to the 1948 law is located in certain municipalities with more than 10,000 inhabitants (or adjacent to them). However, only tenants who entered these dwellings before 23 December 1986 can continue to benefit from the regime of the 1948 law.
