Communiqué of the Grand Council
State of Vaud
Posted on November 9, 2020
Due to the rapid evolution of the health situation, since the second half of October, the Bureau of the Grand Council has decided to cancel the plenary session of the Grand Council of Tuesday, November 10, 2020 in favor of meetings of political groups.
Since the end of the summer vacation, the Grand Council has been able to return to the Parliament premises safely thanks to a protection plan drawn up in collaboration with the Office du Médecin cantonal. No transmission of SARS-CoV-2 has been identified in parliamentary activity, whether in plenary or committee meetings. MEPs have endorsed all the measures of the system. This proven protection plan owes its success to the collaboration of all parties. In view of the rapid development of the health situation in the Canton, the Bureau decided to cancel the plenary session of Tuesday 10 November 2020 for the benefit of political group meetings, initially scheduled for November 17; these can be held in accordance with the measures set out by the Council of State at its press conference on 3 November.
Finally, the Bureau of the Grand Council will decide again this week, among several possible options, which one it will retain in order to sit outside the walls of Parliament until Christmas.
