The nominations include cross-sector technologies for the resource-saving use of raw materials. In 2020, the focus will be on processes for reusing both simple and complex residual materials that are used for the preparation and manufacture of new products. The winners of the German Raw Material Efficiency Prize 2020 are Gebrüder Dorfner GmbH & Co Kaolin- und Kristallquarzsandwerke KG and Rinn Beton – und Naturstein GmbH & Co. KG and the Institute for Advanced Mining Technologies of RWTH Aachen University Gebrüder Dorfner GmbH & Co Kaolin- und Kristallquarzsandwerke KG: The Bavarian company has implemented a reduction in the raw earth consumption of its own deposit and increased its sales at the same time . It tested different granulate sizes and processes until it had developed a climate-neutral recycled concrete block that contains 40 percent recycled material and meets all constructional requirements for a concrete block.In Institute for Advanced Mining Technologies, RWTH Aachen: The Institute for Advanced Mining Technologies from North Rhine -Westfalen has developed an online measuring system for material flow characterization in processing plants for the gypsum industry. This can be integrated into the existing process of continuous material transport and enables real-time determination of the gypsum content in 5-second intervals. This increases the material efficiency and the profitability of the entire processing plant.
