Servicemen of a separate logistics brigade of the Western Military District (ZVO) continue to build bridges from 60 to 72 meters across the Shat and Upa rivers in Venevsky and Dubensky districts of the Tula region. The construction of bridges is carried out within the framework of special tactical exercises of the logistics units of the RF Armed Forces. To date, the readiness of structures exceeds 30% for the road and 15% for the pedestrian bridge.
This was announced by the commander of a separate bridge battalion of the MTO ZVO brigade, Lieutenant Colonel Andrei Garanin. “Currently, the work is being carried out in accordance with the approved schedule. We will try to finish the work before the onset of low temperatures, ”he said.
After the completion of work on these areas, servicemen of the logistics brigade of the Western Military District will have to build road bridges across the Mokraya Tabola and Penikovka rivers in the Kimovsky and Belevsky regions, as well as across the stream in the village of Gribovka, Venevsky district, Tula region, 24, 36 and 12 meters long, respectively.
The decision to assist in the construction of five bridges across water barriers on the territory of the Tula Region to improve road communication between the region’s settlements was made by the commander of the Western Military District, Colonel-General Alexander Zhuravlev, in accordance with an appeal by the Governor of the Tula Region Alexei Dyumin.
In total, more than 110 servicemen and over 55 units of military and special equipment of the units of the MTO compound of the Western Military District were involved in the exercises. The erected bridge structures, after carrying out appropriate examinations, will be transferred to the operation of municipal authorities, will connect dozens of settlements and will significantly reduce the distance for local residents to social institutions – schools, kindergartens, hospitals, paramedics centers and shops.
The Russian Ministry of Defense has been interacting with the Tula Region to update the regional network of bridge structures since 2018. During this time, 14 bridges have already been erected in the region. – 00.00 Moscow time on 09.11.2020.
