At the Gornostay range of the Pacific Fleet (Primorsky Territory), a Marine Corps unit was trained to destroy unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) of a simulated enemy.

The training was of an experimental nature, since during its implementation the rationalization proposal of the Pacific Fleet officer, Captain 2nd Rank Konstantin Pichulin, on the use of UAV mock-ups during fire training exercises was practically tested.

The Marines fired automatic weapons at aerial targets that mimicked the unmanned aerial vehicles of a simulated enemy. Targets, executed according to a simple template of expanded polystyrene, were towed by a controlled heavy quadrocopter in the firing sector. Dimensional drones were located at a distance of up to 500 meters from the firing positions, at altitudes of 300-400 meters.

According to the training results, it was noted that this method of conducting practical exercises is effective, since it allows combat training firing of units at UAVs with minimal conventions, setting various parameters of target movement, while creating a target costs only a few hundred rubles, with the possibility of its multiple use.
