Department Spokesperson Morgan Ortagus recognized International Day to End Impunity for Crimes Against Journalists.

Secretary of State Pompeo on developments in Sudan and our improved bilateral relationship: “The United States applauds the dramatic progress that the civilian led transitional government has made in working toward freedom, peace, and justice for the Sudanese people. We also welcome Sudan’s courageous decision to join the Abraham Accords and normalize ties with Israel in pursuit of peace, security, and prosperity.”

Department Spokesperson Morgan Ortagus addressed the human rights crisis in Xinjiang.

Secretary Pompeo marked the 41st anniversary of the start of the Iran hostage crisis: “The survivors of the Iran hostage crisis embody the courage of our diplomatic corps. Today we honor the sacrifice made by these patriots and those who worked tirelessly to free them.”
