Source: Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Energy According to the Federal Statistical Office [1], production in the manufacturing industry increased by 1.6% in September compared to the previous month. [2] Industry and construction reported increases of 2.0% and 1.5%, respectively. The main reason for the plus in industry was the recovery in production in the motor vehicle sector (+10.0%). In addition, the Federal Statistical Office revised the results for the previous month up by about one percentage point. In the third quarter, output in the manufacturing sector increased by 10.7%. Industry reported an increase of 14.6%, while output in construction decreased (-2.2%). In the automotive sector, there was an increase of 69.6%, while the manufacturing industry is fighting its way back step by step. In industry, production was most recently around 93% of the pre-crisis level in the fourth quarter of 2019. The incoming orders and the business climate speak for the continuation of the recovery process, even if this path will be even more rocky in view of the pandemic. ———- [1] November 6, 2020.
