At the last stage, five pavilions will be installed, three descents to the water will be made, bicycle paths and six bicycle parking areas will be equipped, as well as treadmills with soft surfaces will be laid.

The reconstruction of the Marc Chagall embankment in the south of the capital is planned to be completed in 2021. This was announced by the Deputy Mayor of Moscow for Urban Development Policy and Construction Andrey Bochkarev.

“At the first stage in 2019, a pedestrian zone and a reconstructed embankment with a length of 670 meters were opened. At the final stage, work is underway to install five pavilions, arrange three descents to the water, pave sidewalks, as well as arrange bike paths and six bike parking lots, and lay soft-surface treadmills. We plan to complete the reconstruction of the Marc Chagall embankment in the first quarter of 2021, ”he said.

Andrei Bochkarev also noted that all embankments in Moscow are being built according to new rules – with a significant offset from the coastline, which will create a comfortable public space near the water for recreation and walks.

A comprehensive improvement will be carried out on the updated embankment, the head of the capital Construction Department Rafik Zagrutdinov.

“There will be a café in a single structure with an amphitheater, a café-buffet, rental points, two children’s and local sports grounds. In addition, 134 trees and 395 shrubs will be planted, ”he said.

Rafik Zagrutdinov recalled that the reconstruction of the Marc Chagall embankment began in March 2019. As part of the priority measures, a natural shore was formed for 104 meters, 1.3 hectares of sidewalks were paved with granite tiles, 520 meters of bike paths and one kilometer of soft-surfaced running tracks were arranged. In addition, 274 trees and 960 shrubs were planted, 15 thousand square meters of lawn were laid.

The Marc Chagall embankment is a part of the green belt of parks of the former ZIL industrial zone, directly connected with the territory of residential quarters framing the Na Naberezhnaya park, a green comfortable recreation area along the Moskva River.

The walking route will connect the Marc Chagall and Simonovskaya embankments
