The canteens of the formations and units of the combined arms army of the Eastern Military District, stationed in the Amur Region, the Jewish Autonomy and the Khabarovsk Territory, switched to the winter diet of servicemen. Particular attention in the updated menu is paid to the prevention of colds. For this, time-tested traditional medicine products are used – onions and garlic. In addition, in cooperation with medical specialists, nutritional options are being developed using other products that increase the body’s immunity.
The winter menu included lard (bacon), canned vegetables, fish and other dishes that ensure the preservation of calories in low temperatures. Cold appetizers have been added to salad bars, in the preparation of which fish is used, as well as pates and jellies. The energy value of a soldier’s daily food intake in the updated layout was more than 4000 kilocalories.
A feature of this year is the use of Far Eastern fish – pink salmon, chum salmon and other species. Also, since last year, national cuisine days have been held, during which dishes of the indigenous peoples of the Far East and other peoples of Russia are prepared. The practice has worked well and is very popular with the military.
In winter, to provide training at the training grounds, additional meals are organized with the issuance of hot tea, bread, bacon, onions and garlic. Additional nutrition stimulates the body’s resistance to viral diseases.
As a reminder, in canteens, servicemen are provided with a choice of at least 2-3 dishes for each meal and 5 types of salads in a salad bar, which is organized according to the principle of a buffet. The dishes are prepared taking into account the wishes of the military, which they themselves propose through surveys and questionnaires. Food in canteens is organized using an automated biometric control system. Thanks to this system, it is possible to plan the required amount of food and control the food intake by military personnel.
