Today in the main base of the Northern Fleet – the city of Severomorsk – a solemn meeting from the cruise of the large anti-submarine ship (BOD) “Severomorsk” took place. The ship was the flagship of the ninth Arctic cruise of ships and vessels of the Northern Fleet in the seas of the Arctic Ocean. After the end of the voyage to the Arctic, he completed the assigned tasks in the North Atlantic in cooperation with the tanker “Sergey Osipov”.

The ceremony of welcoming the ship in Severomorsk was led by the commander of the Northern Fleet, Vice Admiral Alexander Moiseev. He congratulated the crew on the successful completion of the assigned tasks and return to base. According to naval tradition, the fleet commander handed a roast piglet to the ship’s commander, Captain 1st Rank Anatoly Kozhurov.

The Severomorsk ship has been at sea for three months. He traveled over 12 thousand nautical miles and worked out over 10 tactical exercises using artillery, missile and naval anti-submarine weapons. The ship provided amphibious assault landing in Taimyr and Chukotka, as well as firing from the Bastion coastal missile system on Alexandra Land Island.

During the Arctic expedition, the Severomors conducted lessons of courage in schools in the cities of Dudinka and Egvekinot.

In honor of the 75th anniversary of the Victory of the Soviet people in the Great Patriotic War, the Severomorsk crew carried out the Banner of Victory over the Arctic campaign. On the Arctic voyage, the sailors took a copy of the Victory Banner, which they hoisted along with the St.Andrew’s flag while performing important tasks.

A copy of the Victory Banner, which has visited the Arctic, will be transferred to the Naval Museum of the Northern Fleet.

BOD “Severomorsk” is a constant participant in long-distance cruises. During his service, he traveled hundreds of thousands of nautical miles and visited all the oceans. The average duration of his long voyages is about six months.
