Headline: Protection of medical activities in armed conflicts: Switzerland promotes dialogue

The current COVID-19 pandemic underscores the importance of medical aid – especially in armed conflict. International humanitarian law protects medical activities in armed conflict. From November 2nd to 5th, 2020, Switzerland organized a meeting of government experts on the topic of protecting medical activities in armed conflict. Over 280 people from around 100 countries took part in the event, which took place virtually due to the pandemic. The meeting enabled the represented states to identify and discuss good practices. The states can now fall back on them to promote the implementation of international humanitarian law at the national level.
