Compensation regulations will be extended and test capacities expanded

Tomorrow, Friday, the first reading of the Third Law for the Protection of the Population in an Epidemic Situation of National Scope will take place in the German Bundestag. The deputy chairman of the CDU / CSU parliamentary group, Georg Nüßlein, explains:

“The German Bundestag is taking its role in the pandemic adequately. With the Third Civil Protection Act, we specify the measures that can be taken by the countries to contain the corona pandemic. These include, for example, the mask requirement, contact restrictions, the prohibition of events and the closure of restaurants. Clarifications are helpful because of the longer pandemic situation and the associated longer duration of the measures.

For parents, we are extending the compensation scheme for loss of earnings until March 31, 2021 if their children cannot go to school because the school is closed and their parents have to look after them. In addition, we are extending this rule to cases in which children are sent to quarantine but the school remains open. On the other hand, there will no longer be compensation if someone undertakes an avoidable trip to a risk area and then has to be quarantined.

We are also expanding the test capacities. In the future, laboratory tests for the coronavirus may also be carried out by veterinary technical assistants. In addition to human physicians, dentists and veterinarians will also be able to prove the coronavirus. Rapid tests for the coronavirus will soon also be able to be used by non-medical personnel. “
